We make every bar. Mixed, poured, cured, cut, and hand wrapped in house at our shop in Oregon's Willamette Valley. There is no third party manufacturer. What shows up at your door was made here.

Castile soap is real soap, made through a process called saponification where oils are combined with lye to create soap and glycerin. The name comes from the Castile region of Spain where olive oil based soaps originated. Unlike commercial body washes and bar soaps, castile soap contains no synthetic detergents, no sulfates, and no fillers. It cleans with real ingredients, not chemistry lab substitutes.
Saponification is the chemical reaction that turns oils into soap. When you see "saponified olive oil" or "saponified coconut oil" on our label, it means those oils have gone through that process to become real soap. It is not a mystery ingredient. It is just how soap is made.
No. No sulfates, no parabens, no triclosan, no SLS, no SLES, no synthetic detergents, no fillers, no ingredients we cannot account for. Every bar starts with saponified palm, coconut, and olive oil. What is on the label is what is in the bar.
Essential oils (EOs) are concentrated plant extracts, steam distilled or cold pressed directly from the source. Lavender EO comes from lavender. Peppermint EO comes from peppermint. Several of our EOs are sourced right here in Oregon's Willamette Valley.
Fragrance oils (FOs) are lab created scent compounds designed to smell like something, whether that is a fruit, a season, a memory, or something that does not exist in nature. They are not derived directly from plants. They allow us to offer scents like Blackberry Chai or Coconut that you simply cannot get from a pure plant extract.
Both are skin safe. Every ingredient that touches your skin is on the label.

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) is a condition where exposure to common synthetic chemicals including fragrances, detergents, and preservatives triggers symptoms ranging from headaches and skin irritation to more serious reactions. Our Fragrance Free collection is designed with MCS customers in mind. Every bar in that collection is made without fragrance or synthetic additives. If you have specific ingredient concerns, email us at customerservice@slabsoap.com and we will walk you through the right options.
Yes. Every bar in the catalog is formulated for full body use including face and hair. Some customers use our bars exclusively as shampoo bars with great results.
Start with our Most Popular collection. Those are the bars customers come back for most. If you already know your scent preference, use the Shop by Scent collection to narrow it down. If you have sensitive skin or want to avoid fragrance entirely, go straight to the Fragrance Free collection. Still not sure? Bay Rum and Lime, Douglas Fir, Port Orford Cedar, Patchouli, Black Cherry, Activated Charcoal, Pine Tar, and Oregon Grit are all popular with male customers. That said, scent is personal and plenty of our customers do not shop by gender. If you want something clean, woodsy, or earthy, those are the ones to look at.
Every product page has a plain English scent profile that describes what the bar actually smells like. We write them the way you would describe a smell to someone, not the way a fragrance marketer would. Cedar smoke and black pepper smells like cedar smoke and black pepper. If you are still unsure, start with a Most Popular bar or email us and we will make a recommendation based on what you tell us you like.

Each bar is approximately 3.5" x 3.25" x 1". That is a full sized bar, not a hotel sliver.

30+ showers per bar. About a month for one person using it daily head to toe. If you are sharing, plan accordingly.
A sharp kitchen knife or a cheese wire works well. Some customers score the bar first and snap it. If you are splitting a bar for travel, a warm knife makes a cleaner cut.
Within 2 to 3 business days of your order being placed. During high volume periods like Bar of the Week launches and holidays, it may take an additional day or two. We will notify you if there is a significant delay.
We ship via USPS. Standard orders ship First Class or Ground Advantage depending on weight. Every order goes out hand wrapped from our shop in Oregon's Willamette Valley.
You will receive a shipping confirmation email with your tracking number as soon as your order leaves our shop. You can track your package at usps.com or through the link in that email. If you have not received a tracking email within 5 business days of ordering, contact us at customerservice@slabsoap.com.
Free shipping applies when your cart total reaches $50 after discounts, before tax. Shipping charges are not included in that calculation since free shipping replaces them entirely.
Email us at customerservice@slabsoap.com within 5 days of delivery with your order number and a photo if applicable. We will replace or refund immediately, no return required. For packages showing delivered but not received, give it 24 hours and check with neighbors first. If it is still missing after 48 hours contact us and we will work it out.
Email us at customerservice@slabsoap.com with your order number and the code you were trying to use. We will sort it out. Common reasons codes do not apply: the order did not meet the minimum threshold, the code expired, or it was not entered before checkout was completed. We will make it right either way.
SLAB eGift Cards are delivered by email and contain a code the recipient uses at checkout. They are available in amounts from $25 to $250 and never expire. There are no processing fees. They work on any order at slabsoap.com.
