  • Anise Essential Oil

Since ancient times, anise has been a star in the spice world. Known for its antispasmodic, antiseptic, sedative, and detoxifying properties. The sweet, calming licorice-like aroma of anise is also said to melt away general soreness. One of its primary uses is to promote digestive health. In ancient Rome, anise was often added to a cake that was eaten after meals, while the Egyptians used the herb as an ingredient in breads. Today many pharmaceutical companies seek to take advantage of anise’s benefits by adding the herb to certain drugs, like cough syrup and throat medications. (15mL)
